White Sugar
Refined white sugar is a simple carbohydrate produced from sugar cane or sugar beets. It is in the processing of these natural sources that is stripped of all the fiber and nutrients, resulting in a substance that lacks any nutritional value.
What happens when we consume refined white sugar? Good question. Your body has its own regulation of sugar in the blood system. When refined white sugar is ingested, the system starts. Sugar is a simple carbohydrate, so it passes through the bloodstream without having to convert the glucose in the first place. Blood flow glucose load. The pancreas then excretes insulin to metabolize glucose. This insulin is burned quickly to glucose and then remains in the bloodstream for hours, continuing to burn glucose, which causes low blood sugar levels. This is why you will feel an initial surge of energy, when sugar is consumed. The problem is that then you beg sweeter to achieve the levels of blood sugar and restoring energy. What follows is a cycle and blood sugar and insulin levels continuously out of balance. The tendency is then to consume too sweet to satisfy the anxiety caused by low blood sugar.
The long-term, ongoing chemical changes may be hypoglycemia,
diabetes and obesity. When consumed continuously refined white sugar, it is prone to experience mood swings, energy, variable weight and "brain fog" (inability to make clear decisions).
If you have to
incorporate into your diet candy, always look for natural sources that are organic raw. They satisfy your sweet tooth and, because they contain nutrients and fiber and are self-regulation.
