How many domain names website Your company needs?

Some people are buying domain names and no dependency of buying and everything about their company, the offer or location. The two most common reasons for buying a lot of domain names are:

1 to stop your competitors to get them and limit the options for potential new competitors

2 when you have a brand so strong that potential customers might actually try to type the domain name that they think will be your

A common scenario is to have an address of the main site, for example mybusiness.com which is usually more than sufficient. In addition, some people would buy:

mybusiness.net
mybusiness.org
mybusiness.us
mybiz.com
mybiz.org
mybiz.net
mybiz.us

And on and on and on. In many cases they are unnecessary. How many people are going to try to guess what your domain name? If you know your brand may simply type in Google. If you are doing a general search will enter general search terms and if it is well optimized in the results you get ahead of your competitors.

Besides being an additional cost, additional domains can sometimes damage the rankings of your main site confuse the search engines or incurring penalties. There are three common ways that companies manage multiple domain names:

1 Do you have a different website for each domain

2 have the same site on each domain

3 are all the other domains redirect back to main site

Having a different website for different domains can be effective if you are targeting different niche markets with different offers (or targeting different countries). In this way you can be very specific with the information that can be present and speak directly with a unique audience. It means, however, that web designing, hosting and marketing costs of the annual search engines are all multiplied. Often small companies find there is sufficient budget to do everything correctly. Web sites could not appear as professional as they could because cheaper alternatives were chosen, or there may be no budget left for the search engine marketing so that sites could not be found on the target.

Having the same site on each domain is commonly known as 'mirroring'. This is where you just ask the developer to have a duplicate of your site sitting on each domain, and maybe change a few words here and there. The search engines really do not like. In many cases become confused because they refer to different index at different sites. And 'more orderly and easier for search engines to get a site on which to focus.

The third option is to have a permanent redirection of mail all your domain name in more than indicate them to your main site. For a user, if they did type in one of your other domain names would be to update the screen and show them your main site. Preferred method is to redirect Google to set up a redirect at the server level 0.301. Normally it is a quick job for the web developer to arrange this.

If you need to target a niche audience, or foreign countries, and have the budget to do the job properly, then it's great to have a number of specialized Web sites. For many operators of small and medium enterprises, however, the safest and most effective strategy is to have a site that is well presented and well marketed. Concentrate on making your own brand and the experience well, and guidance of business through a well-planned user-friendly website ....
