How to stream audio
Do you want to stream audio on your website? In this article we give you the most common methods of free streaming.
Before you begin make sure you have the following:
1. Audacity Audio Editor as a free open source software
2. Notepad or other software that you can type simple txt or html
RAM - Real Audio Media
This was very popular a few years ago, but the flash players and the rise of high-speed Internet means that its possible to stream full quality MP3 files.
To stream a real audio simply save your music in a file. Rm files using the audio editor. Upload your files. Rm to your web server. Once you have done this take note of the web address of the file. Rm and using Notepad, type this URL in it.
Save the Notepad file, but change the code to the end. Txt to. Ram. Upload. Ram file on web server and note the web address of this file. On your website, create a shortcut to the file. RAM so that your music will be streamed on-click it.
Unfortunately this type of steaming may require you to have Real Media Player. The problem is that not everyone has it.
M3U - Moving Picture Experts Group Audio Layer 3 Uniform Resource Locator
Originally created for use in WinAmp, this method is done in a manner similar to the ram file, but instead is used for streaming MP3 and WMA files.
To stream using this method, follow the same instructions as the ram file, but save the music. Mp3 or. Wma. When you save the notepad file, save it with the prefix. M3u. In addition, you can actually add more than one audio file in m3u file.
Flash Players
There are many flash players around and some of them are free. However, some of them need to copy and paste the link to their website. This can make your site look a bit 'unprofessional. But if that's the way you want to go down you can try using the Flash Player to myflashfetish.com.
You can also buy software that will have the Flash player models to use. Alternatively, you can create your own player using the software if it is so advanced Flash design.
If you want one that does not need a link to a website and requires no flash design software, then I suggest you use the WordPress audio player. Do not worry, you do not need to use WordPress. Just follow the instructions www.macloo.com/examples/audio_player/ and you get a decent player without having to splash the cash. Be sure to give the creators of the software if you continue to use it.
These methods are perhaps not only the methods of steaming audio, but are most popular. Gone are the days of trying to embed Windows Media Player or Real Audio Player in a web page as a lot of people have found that these have caused compatibility problems.
Who knows, maybe there will be another way of streaming audio in the future that do not require additional software to play the file .......
