What sells best on eBay? 5 Tools to help you find Out

Lately everyone wants to make money on eBay. And why not? Nearly 1 million people rely on eBay for all or part of their monthly income.

But a big question posed by new and experienced salespeople: "What sells best?"

There is no shortage of people trying to sell software or online courses, sometimes for an incredible amount of money, that will give you the answer to this question. But what you may not know is, you do not need some elaborate system to find out what sells best on eBay.

eBay has got to be the monster that site is to allow its dealers to guess. They know it is in their interest to tell you how to make money on their site. When you make money, make money.

Here are just some of the tools that offer their sellers.

Completed items
Each time you do a search on eBay, on the left of the results there is a menu titled "Search Options." Within this menu, you will see a box with the words "Completed Listings". Check the box, and click the "Show Items".

The results you get are the auctions that have just concluded. If the price of the product is green, has sold. It is in red, no. If you see a lot of green in these results, you know the item is selling well.

Popular search
eBay provides an alphabetical list of the most searched for keywords in the previous month. You will find this tool popular.ebay.com. I also like to use this tool when I write my auction titles.

eBay Pulse
Each category has its own eBay Pulse. This is a site that shows the most watched auctions, namely the listings that most people have marked to "look".

This can be a valuable tool to learn about the trends in what people are searching within a selected category.

eBay Marketplace Research
This tool allows you to view valuable statistics on the current buying trends. And give you all the details you could ever need to determine whether an item will sell well or not. Please note, there is a small fee for this tool.

Are you the owner test
Keep notes on what sells and what does not for you. Note the time of day your auction order, and which days of the week.

I have read many times, people who say that Monday is the best day to begin and end the auction, but the few times I tried, my sales were terrible. I do not want to list an item on a Monday ever, simply because of my test.

While few of these tools will help you, be careful what I like to call the "Element eBay." Sometimes, I list an item that I do not expect to get so much, and will sell for ten times what I had expected. And then, the next time you list the same item, no offer at all.

While the research will help, not an exact science, and for me, this is what makes eBay so much fun! ...
