Computer Monitors

Computer monitors, also called computer screens are output peripherals that connect to a PC via a graphics card or video card and displays the information from the computer. Computer monitors are the primary communication interface between the computer and the user therefore remain central to the quality of work and the health of our sight.

Features

Worth making a financial investment in computer monitors and carefully selected for two reasons:

Greatly influence the quality and comfort of our work, as well as the health of our eyes because of the long hours we spent watching them. Computer monitors are computer components with longer life, being used for years, often on different computers. Here are some important characteristics of computer monitors:

Size: measure of the diagonal, usually between 15 and 27 inches. In the CRT the viewable area is less than the screen size. Form factor (ratio or aspect ratio) indicates the ratio between width and height in computer monitors. Traditionally it was 4:3 like on TV but in widescreen is 16:9. Resolution: number of points that can display the monitor (also depends on the graphics card). There are numerous standards: VGA (640x480), SVGA (800x600), HD Ready (1280x720) or Full HD (1920x1080). Dot pitch (dot pitch) influences the sharpness of the image, the smaller the better quality. Refresh rate: number of times per second that regenerates the image (also depends on the video card). Along with the response time is a factor directly related to visual fatigue, the higher the least cause eye strain. Contrast and brightness: a major influence on the quality of image perception. Connections: should computer monitors that include both digital connections (DVI, HDMI) and analog (VGA). Position: It is desirable that the position is adjustable in height and tilt. Configuration: Interface OSD (On Screen Display) imposed over the settings, ease of configuration.

Multimedia: multimedia models include integrated speakers and microphone along with the corresponding connections. Touch screen: computer monitors touch (touchscreen) can interact with the computer by touching the screen, serving both peripheral input and output.

Type

There are basically three types of computer monitors:

CRT (Cathode Ray Tube, CRT): The more common a few years ago, similar to a TV. TFT-LCD flat screen monitor LCD (Liquid Crystal Display, Liquid Crystal Display) technology which uses TFT (Thin Film Transistor, Thin Film Transistor) to improve image quality. LCD-LED, LCD flat screen monitor that uses LED backlight (Light Emitting Diode, Light Emitting Diode). Plasma (PDP, Plasma Display Panel) computer monitors flat screen using plasma technology.
