Six Lessons Leadership For Everyone
After a dynamic week of training and playing in the Bahamas with a group of clients, I spent some time reflecting on the lessons of leadership that came from this experience. And while you may not have the opportunity to head south, you can implement any and all these things in your business.
Lesson 1: Take time to calm the mind and body
Our fast-paced world often means that busyness is wrong with a good deal. This is not so. Professional (and personal) growth needs to take time to think strategically, without distractions. In this way you stay on track.
Lesson 2: Team building occurs outside of the class
Never underestimate the impact of team building activities outside the classroom and away from the workplace. The relationship (or REALationships) that build team members during this time to improve communication and trust.
Lesson 3: Look to nature when the other leaders
We were told that the dolphins must want and need to know what is expected of them. As is true with people as well. Your employees and employees must want to give their best and they need enough information to perform their full capacity.
Lesson 4: You're in control of your experience
We all know that the phrase "what you see is what you get", well, that's right. If you expect a bad time, you have one. But the opposite is true as well. When you walk each day in the world of work, what attitude colors your experience?
Lesson 5: Do not forget to be thankful
Our journey, a clerk told me it was a local resort that tourists often reminded how lucky she was to work and live in a beautiful island. Sometimes we forget to look up to work and remember everything that we can be grateful. Take time to enjoy the fruits of your labor.
Lesson 6: The courage and reveal new possibilities for change
Whether it is overcoming the fear of deep water to swim with dolphins, or have the courage to make a presentation to a large group, when we lay our comfort zones often receive full and best experiences. Choose something that you have always wanted to do and set an action plan to achieve it.
Remember, time waits for no one, so start your journey today....
